In the beginning, God created all things, and it was perfect.
Then Adam and Eve, the first people, did something God told them not to do.
The world stopped being perfect.
Since then, every single person on earth has done something that is wrong.
No one is perfect.
The only One who is perfect is God.
God loves us and wants all people to be a part of His family.
The wrong things we do keep us from being a part of God’s perfect family.
God sent His Son Jesus to earth to be born a human.
Jesus lived on earth for 33 years and was perfect.
Because He loves us, Jesus allowed Himself to be killed on a cross.
Even though we did the wrong things, Jesus died for us.
Because Jesus is fully God and fully man, He rose from the dead.
By rising from the dead, He won a victory over death.
That victory means that Jesus can forgive us for the wrong things we have done.
If we believe Jesus is the Son of God, and we ask Him to forgive us, He will forgive us.
When He forgives us, God says we are now allowed to be in His family.
Jesus erases the wrong things we have done.
He adopts us and calls us a child of God.
That is how we can live with Him forever in eternity when we die.
If a person is not a child of God, that person cannot live with God.
As a child of God, all God asks of us is that we obey Him.
When we obey Him, we prove we are His child and that we love Him.
God promises to help us obey Him.
When we believe in Him, He places His Holy Spirit inside of us.
The Holy Spirit talks to our heart and helps us act more like Jesus.
If we disobey Him and do wrong things again, He promises to forgive us.
If we keep disobeying Him and keep doing wrong things, we hurt ourselves and other people.
The devil is real and wants us to hurt ourselves and others by doing wrong things.
If we keep doing wrong things, those things will hurt us, and might cause us to stop loving God.
If that happens, then we won't ask God to forgive us.
If we stop loving God and lose our faith in Him, then we won’t be able to live with Him forever in eternity.
That is why it is important that we obey God.
The way we know what God wants us to do is by reading God’s Word, the Holy Bible.
The Bible is God’s instruction book on how He wants us to live.
The Bible is true, and we can trust it to tell us what God thinks.
When we follow Jesus, we don't have to be afraid.
We are His children, and He loves us very much.
Because we belong to God's family, we will live with Him forever in eternity.
God will always be with us and will help us every day.
That's what it means to be a child of God.
